The Beauty of Lake Beratan



Beratan Lake is a lake located in the area of Bedugul, Candikuning Village, District Baturiti, Tabanan, Bali. Beratan Lake is a caldera lake with an altitude of 1231 m above sea level, with an area of 3.8 km and maximum depth of 22 m. Volume is 0.049 km3 of lake water and it is a closed lake. Beratan is the easternmost lake between two other lakes namely Lake Tamblingan and Lake Buyan, which is a cluster of twin lakes inside a huge caldera. Lake Bratan is quite special, located in the highlands, causing the place is very cool and sometimes in the blanket of fog.

In the middle of the lake there is a temple complex called Ulun Danu Temple, which is a shrine to the Goddess Danu as the giver of fertility. Water temples serve the entire region in the outflow area; downstream there are many smaller water temples that are specific to each irrigation association. The complex in the lake was built in 1633 which spread across several islands. Meru, with eleven roofs dedicated to Shiva and his wife Parvati. Buddha was also a place in the temple of the Hindu god.

The lake is located in Tabanan regency and Denpasar can be reached from the road - Singaraja in the travel time of approximately one and a half hour. Travelers can access the Lake Beratan through dock supplied or stopped around Ulun Danu Beratan. Here, tourists can perform a variety of water recreational activities can also be done here for example a motor boat ride around the lake, parasailing, wooden boat (canoeing), banana boating, and others. Lake Beratan also provides a variety of charm and adequate accommodation.
